Stereoville, 1985. The hippest cats in town are the tapes: mixtapes, cassettes, and one rubbery rascal named Rudy Rewind. Then Count Compacto, the slickest disc in show business, declares every tape obsolete, and he's got the billboards, the radio station and a whole factory behind him. Prove him wrong.

Rudy Rewind in The Compact Catastrophe is a 2D run-and-gun platformer drawn like a 1930s rubber-hose cartoon. Run, jump and blast through 64 scenes and 16 boss fights to put the Count back in his case.

Run. Jump. Blast!

Rudy fights back the only way a tape knows how: with music. Fire musical notes from his white gloves, hop through shopfronts, arcades and boardwalks, pop open ? blocks, and grab the golden notes tucked into every scene. Three hearts, a few spare tapes and a running score keep the pressure on.

Be Kind, Rewind

Botch a jump? No sweat. Rudy can rewind his own tape: the screen rolls back, tracking lines and all, to the moment before you slipped, and you take it again. Rewinding drains a meter that refills as you play, so it's a safety net, not a free pass.

Eight Reels of Trouble

The 64 scenes are spread across eight reels, each with its own setting.

16 Boss Fights

There's a showdown in every reel. Dodge Jukebox Joe's light-up dance floor, jump Gumball Gus's rolling gumballs, out-play Keytar Kevin, stay out of Armstrong the Robot Arm's reach, and face Count Compacto himself on the surface of the moon.

Over 40 Gadget Goons

Cash registers, slushie cups, newspaper boxes and plenty more: over 40 kinds of Gadget Goons stand between Rudy and the Count.
