The library holds 263 classics, complete and unabridged: Austen and Dickens, Jewett and Thoreau, sea stories, poetry and natural history. Take one down and read it by the window.

Walk from the painted kitchen to the book-lined library, look out from the room above the roof, or settle into a chair on the porch. Open a book, switch on a reading lamp, and listen to the coast. Small ways to spend an afternoon
Cast a line from the old dock and release your catch. Walk the tide line and look for sea glass and shells; a storm washes more ashore, and your finds collect in a jar on the kitchen windowsill. Go for a swim, split some kindling, or play a few notes in the parlor. Upstairs, make a simple color study of the coast and keep it on the easel.
